The Truth Behind the Dye

I've had this post sitting in my drafts folder for 2 days now.
I'm hesitant to publish it...But here we go...

I've had a few questions / comments lately about my hair, which is an absolute mess at the moment!
The colour is Hypnotic Red by Schwartzkoff, it's just cheap supermarket stuff, nothing special. I've been dying it myself for just over a year now - mostly due to budget constraints.
The colour turns out un-evenly because I have a lot of colour build up in my hair. The roots are dark because of my natural re-growth, the middle brighter because the previous red was much more vibrant and the ends dark because they were previously black.

I've been meaning to get it professionally done for a while now, but because I'm not taking a wage I can't really justify spending $200 - $300 that I don't have; then there's the maintenance that follows.
.
Anyway, I digress, I've added some photo's below so you can see what it was like so you get a better understanding that when I say it's boring & flat, it really is; especially compared to how it was...

I've been dying my hair various shades of red for over 10 years, it's always been vibrant up until now. I have a wee bit of an identity crisis when I think about it...I've always been "The Redhead" but these days I'm not. Not really.

Sometime soon I'll change it again, what to? No idea.

Animal Accent

I came across a post on Odd Socks and Pretty Frocks about the vagueness of the word "thrifted" and it really got me thinking because I am definitely guilty of using the non-descript term.

.
My thoughts were :

A) In NZ we actually call thrifting "op-shopping", short for opportunity shopping, but I decided to use the term thrifted because everyone seems to understand that without explanation, I am lazy after all.

B) Most of my readers are internationals, not kiwi's and the few that are don't live in my area.

.

Having said that, I do think that more specific labeling is useful, even just for my own record if not anything else. So from here forth I will be more specific.

Take a Bow 2

The little girl in me adores bows. I've always loved them and I'm fairly sure this is one fascination I'm not going to grow out of. There's something so charming and cute about a bow.

We heart it is very quickly becoming my favourite way to waste time. So many delightful images to feast my eyes on!

Away with the concrete coloured sky

I realise that most of you are now anticipating autumn but I'm dying for spring to arrive, away with the concrete coloured sky, I'm craving blue sky & blossom!

Every morning this week I've stared into my closet thinking I'll wear that! No, no, wait a minute, you can't, you'll freeze! It's only going to get to 10 or maybe 12 degrees. So instead I throw on something I'm less than enthusiastic about.

Maybe I should move up north where the weather is warmer? No, you can't. Business, remember? Oh yeah, that.

Patience is not a virtue of mine.

The Beauty of Blush

Blush, soft pink, peach, whatever you choose to call it, it is one of my favourite colours, especially as we are approaching spring here.

I think the real beauty of this colour is that it appears to be one of the few colours that a majority of people can wear regardless of their skin tone or hair colour.

Romantic & feminine...What's not to love?

I don't know about the rest of you, but I still feel like a total dork when I take pictures...hence I end up looking at my feet most of the time, I'm trying to look up more I swear!

Lace Love Story

It's certainly no secret that I adore lace.

I love the romantic edge that it creates.

I was looking for inspiration to distract me from my boring Monday back at work when I stumbled across a site I'd not heard of before : weheartit.com. If you haven't been there before then definitely check it out. There are thousands of gorgeous pictures just waiting to be appreciated.

Hindsight

The thing I like most about having my blog is that I can actually see (and keep a record of) what I actually wear.

.
Now that these pictures are right in front of me I've decided that I don't like wearing this, this way, at all.

.

This "dress" is actually a skirt. Rather than take it up to the length I wanted to wear it at (because I'm a lazy wench), I just folded it over & belted it so it would stay up. Looking at these pictures I've realised that was a mistake. I'm a full C...But here I look as flat as a pancake! So...Having seen this; I will now take up the hem & wear it with a high waisted belt to give it shape, so that it will actually suit my figure.

Hmmm...When the boyfriend & I went to Melbourne for a holiday. More specifically wandering around the Melbourne zoo with him. The meerkats were sooo cute!

Nothing comes to mind really.

I'm the kind of person who would rather do something & live with the consequences than to always wonder. I tend to look back & think "Sh*t, maybe that was a bad idea.." quite a lot; but it's part of my personality I guess.

80% of my wardrobe is black...But that is an improvement...It used to be 100% black!
