Skin Deep

I don't know whether it's because I'm getting older or perhaps partly due to my new job but I'm finding myself even more drawn to ladylike dresses and shoes. My hemlines are starting to get longer and my choice of footwear is changing to suit.

I love the snake style print and the side rouching on this dress, it's classic but with a modern twist.

On a more serious note :
I'm sitting here watching a documentary called "My Beautiful Friends" featuring Katie Piper (the girl who had acid thrown over her face in London 2008) - it's truly inspirational.
I read her book "Beautiful" cover to cover on the way home from Singapore in October and it's one of the best books I've read, if you get a chance read it! Her journey is incredible.
These are people who have had their whole lives turned upside down. I don't feel sorry for them, I am in awe of them, to have such strength and courage is very admirable.
The things that really matter are more than skin deep.

  4. I definitely want to read that book, it sounds amazing. I just finished a book about a man where I live who was seriously burned (90% of his body) and it's about him in the hospital/rehabilitation and was the most amazing thing ever.
I absolutely love your dress, it's ladylike but the print is so amazing and gives it an edge. Gorgeous look

  11. It is a ladylike outfit, but I like that the red and snakeskin-y pattern give it a little punch!

I've never heard of the girl that had acid thrown on her! How awful. I'll look for the book on my nook right now.
